The BMW Motorrad R1100GS dual-sport motorcycle was sold from 1994 through 1999. Replacing the outgoing BMW Motorrad R100GS in the lineup, the bike featured a 1085-cc flat-twin boxer engine that was both air- and oil-cooled -- the first such engine offered in the GS family.

Features included Motronic fuel injection, a rear Paralever swingarm system, a new A-arm front suspension design, as well as optional heated handlebar grips and anti-lock brakes. The BMW Motorrad R1100GS was itself replaced in by the BMW Motorrad R1150GS after the 1999 model year.
