The sport-oriented motorcycle featured the same 1,170-cc flat twin four-stroke engine, six-speed transmission, and shaft drive as was offered for the BMW Motorrad R1200S. Production ceased following the 2007 model year.

Features included a BMW Telelever front suspension, BMW EVO Paralever rear suspension, hexagonal-shaped vertical headlight, clip-on style handlebars, 17-inch wheels, automatic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and electronic suspension adjustment.
