The BMW Motorrad F650GS Dakar was a dual-sport motorcycle that debuted in 2001 and was available until 2007, when it was discontinued for 2008. It was a slightly taller variant of the BMW Motorrad F650GS designed for off-road riding.
Features over the years ranged widely. For one, the bike incorporated a water-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve engine with a 652 cc displacement. It was mated to a five-speed transmission and capable of 50 horsepower and 44 pound-feet of torque. Other features included a 4.6-gallon gas tank, a thinner, 21-inch front wheel, a 17-inch rear wheel, and a longer suspension travel for improved handling off the beaten path. It also sported a thicker, higher seat, and an ABS was optional.
